Meldrim mourns the loss of Del. There hasn't been a kinder individual that has come from this community that I can think of and those of us lucky enough to call him our friend or family will miss him dearly. Del never had a harsh word to say to anyone and always had a smile to share with everyone. I'm honored to have known him and to have grown up along side him in the Meldrim Community. Please keep the entire Saturday family in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. His loss has knocked us all to our knees.

Thank you,

Stephen R. Newsome

A Message from Del
By: Stephen Newsome

Last night I was trying to sleep
But Del's voice is all I'd hear
I opened my eyes and looked around,
But he did not appear.

He said: "Stephen you've got to listen,
Please make them understand.
God didn't take me from you,
He only took my hand.

When I called out in pain that night,
The instant that I died,
He reached down and took my hand,
And pulled me to His side.

He pulled me up and saved me
From the misery and pain.
My body was hurt so badly inside,
I could never be the same.

My search is finally over now,
I've found happiness within,
All the answers to my empty dreams
And all that might have been.

I love you all and miss you so,
And I'll always be nearby.
My body's gone forever,
But my spirit will never die!

To all my friends and family,
I hope you understand.
God did not take me from you,
He only took my hand.

And so, you must all go on now,
Live one day at a time.
Try to find your own destiny somehow,
I’m at peace since I’ve found mine."

...Del
